Photography Blog Assignment |
Sophie || 19 || Manchester/Preston Photography student at UCLan. I've basically set up this blog for one of my assignments, which should be lots of fun :) Main Tumblr! Flickr! Facebook! Twitter! |
And so this blog comes to an end.
I have actually really enjoyed putting this blog together for my assignment, it has been useful and fun. Although I know that I havn’t done as much as I hoped I would such as the studio work, I am going to carry this on in my new blog for next semester and try and use it to its full potential this time!
I will post a link up on here when I set up a new blog for the next semester.
Photographs of Scott Matthews from last night - 9th December.
Thought I’d edit these photos and convert them into black and white raw files as it made them look so much better! I also hadn’t edit photos from a whole gig in just black and white, and it gave the photos more of an atmosphere
Wasn’t much of an atmosphere in the room as he is an acoustic singer/songwriter. the whole room was pretty much quiet - not something I like at gigs.
Yes I was able to use slower shutter speeds and a lower ISO as he didn’t move around much, but I found myself very bored. But still, it makes for some good shots I guess.
From photographing this gig I learnt that I don’t really want to photograph a musician like Scott Matthews again. I like a massive atmosphere in a venue with the bands and the crowd going mental…even if it is harder to get really good shots with out the use of a flash gun.
Not quite finished with this blog yet.
Here’s are some of my photos from Chipmunk taken back in February, at 53 Degrees; this was the first gig I shot with a photo pass here at University.
Not too keen on the first 5 images, however I really like the last 5.
And here is the second photo set. Can’t even remember how long ago these were taken.
Just been through my old gig photography on my hard drive.
Going to have to post two photosets as they won’t all fit in one.
I think that my main aim for semester two is to get more portraiture and studio photography done! I have been concentrating mainly on live music photograpy during this smesrer and I deifinitely think that concentrating on portraiture and working in a studio environment next semester is a necessity.
I am going to try my best to get bands and musicians into the studio and do some more promo shots of them. veyr much like the ones that I did on Monday of Your Liars Throne. As I won’t have enough time to edit my images form that shoot and put them on this blog by Friday (tomorrow), I have decided to start off the blog for next semester with the final photographs of the band from that shoot and talk about how the whole shoot went. I think I may also try and get some models in as well as getting bands in.
As I obviously want to go into the music photography industry I think I may actually start writing up reviews on the gigs that I go to during the period of the semester…even the ones I don’t get photopasses for. This will obviously be beneficial if I get my live music work published in a magazine and a writen review is ever required.
I will still keep on with photographing gigs and blogging about them, as well as the other bits that I end up getting up to on the side.
Finally found my hard drive!
Found these portraiture photographs from this year.
The most annoying thing about 3 of these images is the background. At the time of taking these photographs I didn’t know much about studio lighting, and I definitely didn’t know anything about lighting the background…I really didn’t know anything about studio lighting!
You can see though on my previous post with my photograph of Your Liars throne that my studio photography has progressed already in such a short space of time and considering I havn’t been doing that much studio photography I am rather proud of my recent outcomes compared to my outcomes from a couple of months ago.
So, I didn’t get round to posting some stuff up over the weekend because I cannot find my hard drive, bet it’s right under my nose though.
Not had a look today as i’ve been doing work on other assignments for most of the day. Will have another look later though.
Last week we were told about a website where you can create diagrams of studio set ups so I thought i’d try it out. (www.lightingdiagrams.com/creator)
Here’s a diagram of the set up I used last night with Your Liars Throne.
It’s only a rough diagram, wanted to hurry and get it uploaded whilst my internet was connected and tumblr was working.
